Permanent magnet synchronous motors: a record for JEUMONT Electric
JEUMONT Electric will deliver to the Brazilian Navy the largest and most powerful permanent magnet synchronous motor (PMSM) ever designed worldwide .
JEUMONT Electric will deliver to the Brazilian Navy the largest and most powerful permanent magnet synchronous motor (PMSM) ever designed worldwide. It comes with its power converters. Four 2-week technical training sessions complete the package.
The motor is 6-metres long, 3-metres wide and 4.5-metres tall. It weighs 72 tonnes, which is more than twice as much as the Christ’s statue’s head atop Corcovado peak in Rio de Janeiro.
This order is part of the “LABGENE” project: it will simulate, through a land-based test bed, the operation of the full propulsion system (nuclear boiler room excepted) of a nuclear submarine for the Brazilian Navy.
The motor will be installed at the Brazilian Navy Technological Centre close to São Paulo.
The Brazilian Navy built the LABGENE nuclear laboratory to validate the technology which has been selected for the propulsion of its future nuclear submarine, and test its in every operating condition, with the JEUMONT Electric motor.
