2005-2015: Altawest 10th anniversary
Altawest, a French industrial group, energy solutions supplier, celebrates its 10th anniversary
10 years to build a French industrial group
Altawest showcases a consolidated turnover of 265 million euros in 2014, ten times the figure of 2005.
The Altawest group was founded by Philippe Garelli, an entrepreneur with a strong industrial culture, when he purchased Leroux & Lotz Technologies, a company specialised in industrial energy recovery boiler construction.
With a long term outlook, Altawest has built its development on a scenario which combines external and organic growth through takeover and revitalization of companies renowned for their industrial know-how and heritage: Jeumont Electric (formerly Jeumont-Schneider, power generation equipment construction) in 2007, or Inova (renewable energy plants EPC contractor) in 2011.
The ability to carry out reference projects
Altawest has six industrial facilities (4 in France, 1 in India, and 1 in Poland) and six engineering centres in France. From its bases, the Group gets involved into its clients’ major projects. In 2014, Jeumont Electric refurbished 900 MW electrical equipment for EDF’s nuclear plants and Inova won the contract for the construction of the new waste-to-energy plant in the Paris metropolitan area (350,000 tonnes/year).
An independent renewable energy producer through 4 plants in operation, Altawest holds 65% of the project company which funds the construction of the 21.5 MWe Brignoles biomass power plant: Inova will operate the facility, which will produce 168,000 MWh of green power starting 2016.
A steady international development
Altawest supports the development of its industrial activity in France through an active effort to enter international markets. The export share of its turnover reached 35% in 2014 and demonstrates steady progress. Equipment built by Altawest companies is in operation in over 70 countries throughout the world.
Several recent contracts and orders strengthen the Group as a reference technologies developer. Jeumont Electric supplies generators for the Satah Al-Razoot offshore oil facility and for the Cheves hydropower project in Peru (168 MWe), as well as electrical propulsion for South-Korean Navy submarines. Leroux & Lotz has been selected for the construction of a waste paper residue gasification unit on a paper mill site in the Netherlands (12 MWth).
The industrial development of Altawest also translates into its determination to become a local actor on its targeted markets. The manufacturing facility of its subsidiary Jeumont Electric India delivered its first motor in early 2014 and has already received orders for over 40 machines.
Activating Altawest’s growth drivers
Philippe Garelli claims a proactive approach to secure lasting growth: “We are ramping up cooperation and deepening synergies between our business units, in France and abroad, to enter new market segments. In 2015, we will continue to invest in our Sales development and in our industrial base in France.”
